Landscape

Simple, functional and enviromentally friendly is a good place to start when creating a landscape. Simple in the fact that time is limited, and you're most likely not looking for a full-time job. Functional in the fact that your landscape must provide you with an outdoor living space that meets your needs. And eviromentally sensitive in a way that respects the natural surroundings.

Here are some good questions to ask yourself while contemplating your landscape:

  1. How can Existing Plants, Trees and Rocks best be utilized for maximum impact?
  2. Consider the Views from the outside of the house looking in and of course, the inside looking out. Remember, small trees and shrubs can grow quite large.
  3. Consider the Wind in your landscaping. Are wind screens using plants or other elements necessary?
  4. Do Slopes or Land Elevations need to be changed to accommodate proper drainage or site lines.
  5. What are your needs? Functional and practical landscaping should be considered an extension of your home.
  6. Vehicle Access to the back parts of the yard should be considered for future landscape or building projects.
  7. Maintenance. Do you want a low, medium or a high maintenance landscape?
  8. More or Less Lawn? How do you plan to use your outdoor space?
  9. Consider Storage Space for gardening equipment, outdoor furniture or sports gear.
